Life is too short to waste time in a job that you hate so much you wished you could just end it all. One of my many goals in life is to never end up like this as almost everyone in my family lived this life. I'm still scared of this but I don't let that fear control me. My chosen career path is not built on solid ground, I have so many interests that most people would tell me that I should just pick one but I can't.
I want to be a photographer, writer, basketball player, journalist, designer, scriptwriter, and a film director. So many difficult career paths but they are connected by a small thin line that you can choose to ignore. They are careers that are hard to break into, they are unstable, they are based on hard work and dedication. The two characteristics I've always had is persistence and dedication. I'm dedicated to living out my dreams even when the economy is poor and I don't have a piece of paper that I walked across a higher education stage to get.
I'm 5'9 and always been told that I was too short to play basketball so I gave it up. After watching Scott Dinsmore's Ted Talk I decided to start playing again with the intention of trying out for an amateur team or a Division III college team. So now every day I leave my house at 7am to work on my shooting abilities and dribbling at the local park. Afterwards, I will spend 6 minutes in my garage working on developing my left hand's dribbling ability. Even now people tell me I'm too old and too short. But I don't care, it's a dream that I have to chance or I will regret it forever.
Even my photographic aspirations are ridiculed because of the instability of the field. I know the risks for every career I'm interested in. The odds are against me but I'm the type that likes competition. I'm the type of creative that enjoys pushing myself, to putting in the necessary dedication in my passions despite constant failure or minor successes, and being persistent enough to never give up.
Mastering a creative life is my goal, I want to travel the world writing articles and taking pictures, to play basketball on a team, and writing/directing TV shows or films, to inspire others to find their own passions and embracing them. I created a blog for this purpose, I want to inspire others and provide the guidance to enable them to seek out their true selves without the crippling fear of uncertainty. I have no doubt that with dedication and persistence I will succeed in mastering my true passions.
